How does ePortal Work?

ePortal utilizes the powerful Microsoft® BizTalk™ Server 2006 R2 to orchestrate and optimize the document exchange process. With its capacity to process and store large volumes of document transactions, BizTalk Server offers enterprise features to smaller organizations and is the ideal platform for data and document exchange.

The ePortal relies on XML technology to manage and process data. All inbound data that enters the ePortal is transformed into XML of an XCBL schema (XML Common Business Library). In this format, the data remains flexible and non-restrictive for additional processing, such as distribution, display, storage, and integration.

Access to your ePortal is accomplished via the internet using a secure HTTPS connection. An eBridge on-premise integration solution transports documents to and from ePortal via Secure FTP. For communication with a trading partner, the ePortal utilizes the trading partner's established and secure channel (VAN, AS2, etc.).

Examples of financial system rules are how to proceed with a sales order when the customer’s credit limit is reached, or if promotional pricing is to be applied for the customer.
Examples of internal business procedures are the course of action to take upon detection of price mismatch, or to check for duplicate PO numbers and subsequent course of action if PO duplicate is found.
